Both come with an all-in-one base and a bunch of smart features to keep your manual intervention as minimal as possible, while their vacuuming and mopping capabilities are also commendable. Unique to the Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni is the in-house voice assistant YIKO and the ability to mop the floors with hot water. The Roborock Q Revo doesn’t have these luxuries, but it comes with a more budget-friendly price tag.

The Q Revo has a higher Pascal figure and ended up having a higher maximum airflow result, but this only gave it an edge on my carpets since the Q Revo performed better on my hardwood floor.

The Q Revo was truly the better option on my hard floor, reaching an awesome score of 99% compared to 97% of the Deebot T20. The gap between them was marginal, and what was left behind on my hardwood was only the smallest debris.

I switched them to my carpeting tests, and they also showed just how powerful they were. The T20 had better performance across all types of carpet, with almost all the debris gone. The Q Revo struggled a bit more on carpets, especially on the high-pile one, but it still got impressive averages.

Neither robot did well in my hair wrap experiments, but the T20 Omni is technically the better option for hair cleanup. Cleaning their bristle-less rollers was a piece of cake since the hair didn’t wrap tightly, eliminating the need for scissors to tackle tangles.

The Q Revo and Deebot T20 both sport a round-shaped chassis, and their dimensions are about average compared to other robovacs I’ve tested. Most of their components are predominantly made from sturdy plastic that feels well-crafted, and so are their do-it-all bases.
Yes, as high-end robots, it’s no surprise that they ship with self-emptying home bases, which are massive and take up a fair amount of room. And regarding the box contents, there’s not much to find there besides the robot itself and the base station. Both have one main brush roller, one single-use dust bag, and two circular mopping pads. The Deebot T20 comes with a razer for cutting away hair that might get wrapped around its main roller.
Extractor & Side Brush
When it comes to the main brush, they’re not really the same, but both of their rollers are all-rubber and bristle-zero. This is an extremely good thing since having no bristles helps reduce how much hair might get wrapped in their rollers and makes cleaning them a breeze.
But while the Q Revo uses a single corner brush, the Deebot T20 has a duo of side-sweeper brushes to effectively tackle edges and corners from both sides. Ideally, these should be upgraded to all-rubber side brushes for enhanced durability. The Q Revo is compatible with Roborock’s newer rubberized brush, but that needs to be purchased separately.
Navigation
Like other Roborocks and Deebots I’ve reviewed, the Q Revo and Deebot T20 use a raised LiDAR turret to scan 360 degrees of their surroundings. That way, they can map your space quickly and with a good degree of accuracy. Another big bonus of using laser-based navigation technology is that they can operate in dimly lit areas, but receiving adequate light is always better. As for multi-map saving, the Q Revo can save 4 maps, while the Deebot T20 can only save 3.
Speaking of obstacle avoidance, these bots are decent, not excellent. The Deebot T20 goes with the TrueDetect 3D 3.0 system, including a structured light system and laser combination to detect obstacles that are too low for its LiDAR sensor to see. Meanwhile, the Q Revo features an IR sensor called ReActive technology.
They both have no RGB cameras. Dropping the camera seems to be becoming a trend with robot vacuums, probably because it does away with security concerns that can make consumers uncomfortable or is just a way for manufacturers to cut costs. Whatever, they couldn’t detect and sidestep cords and cables, in stark contrast to camera-equipped counterparts like the S7 MaxV. They could just avoid obstacles that are large enough, such as a shoe, mud, or doll.

Both use a 5200 mAh lithium-ion battery, the largest one in the realm of robot vacuums. How long they can last between charges depends on what power mode they are in, but they can generally get the job done on a single charge. Even if they can’t, they will automatically return to the base station to recharge themselves and resume the job right where they left off without your intervention.

Manual Control
The controls on these bots are quite simple. The Deebot T20 only has a single button that can start/stop a cleaning cycle and, when held for 3 seconds, will send the robot home. Meanwhile, the Q Revo has a two-button system, including one power button and one home button. You can’t do much with these physical buttons, so to access the full range of smart features, downloading their companion apps is indispensable.
App Connectivity
The Q Revo can be paired with the Roborock app, while the Deebot T20 syncs with the Ecovacs Home app. Connecting to these apps is quite simple, and you should complete it within 5 minutes by adhering to the in-app guidelines. These apps have almost all the features a high-end robot vacuum should offer, and you can access a plethora of features you may care about right from the main screen.
You can set no-go zones, virtual barriers, or no-go zones to keep the robot from going where you don’t want it to go. You can also set clean zones to target specific spots or choose rooms to clean instead of starting a full cleaning cycle. And for a hands-free experience, you can use Alexa or Google Assistant to tell your little housekeeper what it needs to do. Fancy a set-it-and-forget-it approach? Schedule daily cleaning and let your bot automatically complete the job day by day.
Both apps provide maps of your living space in both 2D and 3D versions. The 3D mapping is surely a welcome addition, allowing you to add the furniture, but I found it isn’t 100% accurate. You can even keep an eye on the location of the bot in real time via the live map.
Unlike the Roborock app, the Ecovacs app doesn’t show obstacles on a map, even when the Deebot T20 can sense and avoid them. It’s not a massive deal, but a touch more effort from Ecovacs would be appreciated.
Unique to the Ecovacs app is the built-in voice assistant named YIKO, which can be a handy companion for those without Alexa or Google Assistant. She can understand and respond to various voice commands, but I found she seemed a bit less agile than Alexa or Google Assistant. No problem. She will be better in the subsequent models.
Cleaning & Maintenance

The main reason why these autonomous robots are so expensive is that they come with multi-functional home bases. Yes, these hulk-sized towers take care of almost everything, including collecting the dust from the built-in bin, cleaning and drying the mop pads, and refilling the water tank (on the Q Revo). By the way, only the Q Revo has an onboard water tank.
And your responsibilities? Just refill the clean water tank and empty the dirty water tank at the end of the day, wash the filter once or twice a month, and bid adieu to the old dust bag every few weeks. Yes, there’s still something you need to get your hands on, but at least you don’t need to keep an eye on your robot during the cleaning process.
I loved the ability to wash and dry the mop pads of these bases. I mean, it’s great to be able to knock one or two tasks off your daily to-do list. The Deebot T20 is the first robot to wash mopping pads with heated water, making it even better at removing stains from the pads. But it would be better if this one used a dedicated brush to clean the pads, like the Q Revo, instead of using small plastic nubs to scrub them.

These bots are generally not much louder than average. But the self-emptying process is a bit noisy, audible enough to raise eyebrows and mildly perturb, especially in the presence of guests or during the quietude of restful hours. Hence, if noise is a concern, you have the option to set your robot to avoid cleaning during quiet hours.
Mopping Ability
Both the Q Revo and Deebot T20 can vacuum and mop at once, and their mop systems themselves have some upgrade elements that significantly enhance their floor-mopping capabilities. The Q Revo uses two spinning mop discs rotating at 200 RPM with downward pressure, while the Deebot T20’s twin discs spin at 180 RPM. They were effective in removing dried coffee and soda stains without adding detergent, a challenge that frequently perplexes most hybrid robots.
As mentioned above, the Deebot T20 uses hot water to moisten the mop pads before scrubbing the floor to deal more effectively with tough and hard stains. I loved this idea, and it somewhat worked at the beginning of the process. Why? This one has no water tank, remember? The base station takes care of heating up the water and dampening its mop pads. That means the water gradually cools, and the mop pads tend to dry out swiftly during the cleaning cycle.
Another notable characteristic is that their mop pads can be lifted when they sense carpets or rugs, so you don’t need to remove the mop pads if you want your robot to clean carpeted floors. The Q Revo accomplishes this by raising the mop pad 7mm off the ground, while the Deebot T20 offers a slightly higher lift of 9mm. If you have carpets with longer strands, you have to set no-go zones on the app.
