Eufy 11s vs 11s Max: You can’t go wrong buying either of them if you’re shopping for a budget-priced robot vacuum. But the one I would recommend is the Eufy 11S.

I understand that my recommendation for the Eufy 11S may come as a surprise to some, but I have solid reasons for my choice. Firstly, it comes at a lower price point while still delivering excellent cleaning performance. Additionally, I find the Eufy 11S’s filter system superior in its ability to trap dirt and its ease of maintenance.

The Eufy 11S Max remains a highly recommended robotic vacuum cleaner. It retains all the features we love in the 11S model and adds more suction power, which can result in slightly better cleaning performance in certain situations. It’s a solid choice for those who prioritize cleaning power and don’t mind the absence of a multi-stage filtration system.

Eufy 11s vs 11s Max: Review & Comparison

The Eufy 11s and 11s Max comparison concludes with a score of 2-1 in favor of the 11s model, with 2 ties. Continue reading to learn more about their differences and similarities.

Cleaning Performance

The Winner: Eufy 11s Max

Suction Power

Talking about suction power, there’s a significant gap between Eufy 11s and 11s Max. The Eufy 11s models pack a punch with 1300 Pa of suction power. It can easily handle piles of crumbs, pet hair, dirt, and dust on both my carpets and hard floors, leaving everything spotless.

The Eufy 11s Max flexes some serious power compared to the Eufy 11s. It boasts a whopping 2000 Pa of max suction power, which puts it in the league of some of the mightiest robot vacuums out there. With this kind of suction power, it can tackle even the most stubborn dirt and debris. Surprisingly, in my experience, I didn’t notice a significant gap in cleaning performance between the two. Both handled pet hair and small large debris with ease.

These budget-friendly robots come with a nifty feature called BoostIQ technology. What this means is that, apart from their standard low and high power modes, they also pack a BoostIQ mode. In this mode, the robot can autonomously ramp up its suction power when it senses areas requiring a bit more power, such as carpets. The impressive part is that it takes just 1.5 seconds for them to make this adjustment.

The BoostIQ feature is designed to maximize the robot’s battery life and ensure efficient cleaning. Essentially, it conserves energy in areas that don’t demand high suction power, using increased power only where it’s necessary for a thorough cleaning job. This not only saves energy but also helps the robot focus its efforts where it matters most.

Clеаning performance

As I mentioned earlier, while the Eufy 11s Max boasts higher airflow and suction compared to the 11s, I didn’t notice a substantial improvement in real-world performance. To be sure, the 11s Max does perform slightly better in some aspects, but the difference isn’t all that significant. Let’s delve into the details.

Carpet

One of the things I absolutely love about the RoboVac 11s and 11s Max is their exceptional performance on carpets. I have Berber and Frieze carpets in my home, and I was pleasantly surprised to see these robots effortlessly pick up everything I scattered on my test, including seeds, cereal, and baking powder. So, if you have low- to medium-pile carpets in your home, both of these machines are ideal choices.

When it comes to high-pile carpets, I must say these two machines might not be the best fit. However, they still put in some effort to tackle the job. In this scenario, I could clearly see a more noticeable difference. Thanks to its higher suction power, the Eufy 11s Max can even suck up some deep-embedded dirt beneath thick carpets, which is what I didn’t expect from a robot vacuum.

Hard Floor

During my hard floor test, both the 11s and 11s Max showcased impressive performance, effectively picking up all types of debris with nearly identical performance.

They don’t always pick up all debris in a single pass. Their side brushes tended to scatter some of the debris in the initial runs. However, after repeated passes over that area, they succeeded in eventually collecting most of it.

Eufy 11s vs 11s Max: Brush system
Eufy 11s vs 11s Max: Brush system

One aspect I didn’t fully appreciate is that these robots have a somewhat narrow cleaning path since their brushroll are only 5.75 inches wide. This could explain why they take a bit more time to complete their cleaning tasks compared to the Roomba vacuums I’ve had experience with.

Edge-clean

Moreover, the edge-cleaning capability of both the 11s and 11s Max shines when it comes to picking up dust bunnies accumulated along the baseboards. They hug the wall closely instead of bouncing away too far upon contact, ensuring they reach most of the debris along the wall.

However, their corner-cleaning performance isn’t as impressive as that of D-shaped models like the Roomba s9+.  Nevertheless, this limitation is a common characteristic of circular robot vacuums.

Hair pick-upIn my hair-pickup test, both the 11s and 11s Max robots performed admirably, picking up all the hair. But instead of neatly stashing them away in their dustbins, a significant portion of the hair got tangled around their side brushes and brush rolls. So, I had to play the hair salon manager and manually untangle the mess. This process can be somewhat cumbersome, especially due to the bristle design of the brush roll.

When it comes to dealing with pet hair, these performed much better. They successfully gathered and stored all those shorter pet hairs in their dustbins. Nevertheless,  a few hairs still got tangled in their brushes.

Design & Usability

Dimensions, Weight & Shape

Eufy 11sEufy 11s Max
Dimensions (D x H)12.75 x 2.85 inches12.75 x 2.85 inches
Weight 5.51 lbs5.95 lbs

Speaking of their design, one of the standout features that I truly appreciate is their slim profile. Standing just 2.85 inches tall, these robot vacuums can effortlessly navigate various spaces and fit underneath low-clearance furniture.

These robots come equipped with a protective bumper at the front and a tempered glass cover on top to prevent scratches. However, I noticed a minor drawback: the top tends to accumulate fingerprints quite easily.

Battery Life

Eufy 11s Eufy 11s Max
Low power mode100 minutes 100 minutes
Boost IQ mode50 minutes 50 minutes
Max power mode 40 minutes 40 minutes

Both the Eufy 11s and the Eufy 11s Max robot vacuum models offer an impressive runtime of approximately 100 minutes on the low power setting, which is quite generous for budget-friendly models.

When these vacuums detect a low battery, they automatically navigate back to their charging stations and commence the recharging process, which typically takes around 4-5 hours to complete.

However, I find that they don’t operate this feature very smoothly, and they might encounter some difficulties. I think the reason is because they lack advanced mapping capabilities. Sometimes, you may find your robot vacuum stuck in random spots if the battery runs out during cleaning.

Navigation

The Eufy 11s and 11s Max employ a basic navigation approach to cleaning your home. They don’t utilize complex, advanced navigation systems and instead follow random cleaning patterns.

It’s important to note that if your floors are cluttered with obstacles, these robots might resemble pinballs bouncing around, leading to a significant battery waste. To ensure optimal performance, it’s advisable to clear your floor of obstacles before starting the robot.

On the brighter side, these models come equipped with infrared and cliff sensors to prevent them from tumbling over edges and drop-offs. Nonetheless, they can occasionally misunderstand dark-colored flooring as stairs, which may trigger the cliff sensors unnecessarily.

Control

The Winner: Tie

Physical Button

The Eufy RoboVac 11S and 11S Max robot vacuum cleaners keep things simple when it comes to controls. They feature a single, easy-to-use physical button on their tops, allowing you to easily start and stop the robot. For additional functionalities, you’ll rely on the included remote control.

These models lack Wi-Fi connectivity, so they don’t offer a smartphone app. Furthermore, they are not compatible with voice assistants like Alexa or Google Assistant for voice control.

While I didn’t personally find the absence of smart features to be a significant inconvenience, if you prefer the convenience of controlling your vacuum through your smartphone or voice commands, you might want to consider the Rooma i3 with the same price tag.

Remote Control

The absence of app control is somewhat compensated for by the inclusion of a user-friendly remote. The features on their respective remotes are mostly identical, but there are still 1-2 distinct functions that set them apart.

With both the Eufy 11s and 11s Max, you can accomplish the following tasks/features using the remote:

  • Adjust suction power
  • Auto Cleaning
  • Cleaning Spot
  • Cleaning Edge
  • Returns to Charging Base:
  • Set time
  • Schedule

The only difference between the Eufy 11s and 11s Max remotes is that the Eufy 11s’s remote includes a button for cleaning a single room, a feature that the Eufy 11s Max lacks. However, the Eufy 11s Max remote has a 30-minute quick clean button, which is not present on the Eufy 11s remote.

I really appreciate the Quick Clean feature of the 11s Max. I realized how handy it is for quick touch-ups, especially when friends are about to visit. With just 30 minutes of quick cleaning, it goes on an emergency sweep to tackle pet hair while I take care of other chores like meal preparation. It’s a convenient way to show our friends that our house is clean and ready for their visit.

Cleaning & Maintenance

The Winner: Eufy 11S

Dustbin

The Eufy RoboVac 11S and the Eufy RoboVac 11S Max both have a generous 0.6-liter dust bin. Considering the vacuum’s size, this capacity is quite impressive. This capacity allows them to collect a substantial amount of debris, enough to last through at least 2 or 3 full cleaning sessions before requiring emptying.

Filtrаtiоn System

The filtration systems of these two robot vacuums are notably different. Many users, including myself, share the opinion that the Eufy 11S has superior filters compared to the Eufy 11S Max.

The 3-stage filtration system of Eufy 11s
The 3-stage filtration system of Eufy 11s

The Eufy 11S features a 3-stage filtration system comprising a pre-filter, a sponge filter, and a high-performance filter. This comprehensive system effectively captures microscopic allergens like dust mites, mold spores, and pet dander.

Having a pre-filter is indeed a game-changer. Contrary to the misconception that 3 filters make maintenance more complicated, it actually simplifies the process. I can confirm that the 11S’s filtration system excels not only in capturing dust effectively but also in making maintenance a breeze. The pre-filter efficiently traps most dirt, pet hair, and human hair before they can accumulate in the grooved filter. Regarding cleaning the pre filter, because it has a flat design, it will definitely be easier to clean than the grooved filter.

The unibody filter of Eufy 11s Max
The unibody filter of Eufy 11s Max

I was puzzled by the decision to include a less efficient filter in the better model. The 11S Max, in contrast to the Eufy 11S, features only a single-stage, unibody filter. Regrettably, it lacks the pre-filter present in the Eufy 11S, which can impact its overall filtration performance and maintenance.

It’s truly frustrating that all the dust goes directly into that single filter without any pre-filters. There’s no space for additional filters on this compact device, and as a result, the unibody filter quickly becomes clogged with fine dust. This can be incredibly time-consuming to clean due to all the grooves in the filter. It’s becoming apparent that a good vacuum should ideally have at least two filters to make maintenance more manageable and efficient.

It dawned on me that this is likely a significant source of the 11s Max’s extra power. The 3-stage filtration system, while effective at trapping dust and allergens, can hinder airflow, potentially reducing the 11s’s suction power. So, I believe they managed to boost the Max’s performance by simplifying the filtration system to just one stage.

Price & Value For Money

The Winner: Eufy 11S

The Eufy RoboVac 11S and the Eufy RoboVac 11S Max are indeed quite similar, with only a few minor differences. The Eufy RoboVac 11S Max typically comes in at a slightly higher price point, costing around $30 to $50 more than the standard 11S. However, the additional capabilities and features of the 11S Max make it a worthwhile investment.

Opting for the Eufy 11S is a smart choice if you want to save money. In my opinion, this version offers excellent value for the price. While it may have slightly lower suction power compared to the 11S Max, its overall cleaning performance remains impressive. In fact, I’ve found that there’s often little to no noticeable difference in performance between the Eufy 11S and the 11S Max.

Moreover, the Eufy 11S boasts an outstanding filtering system. If you have kids or individuals with asthma in your household, this model is a superior choice. Even better, you can remove the pre-filter layer if you desire to enhance the 11S’s suction power. I can confirm that this trick works!
